What is Paramedical Science?

Paramedical Sciences are related to health and health care services that provide work in multidisciplinary health teams in varied healthcare settings to provide therapeutic, diagnostic, curative, preventive and rehabilitative interventions in the different fields like Radiography, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Diagnostics, Radiotherapy, Optometry, Operation theatre technology, etc.

Who are paramedics?

They are specially trained and skilled medical professionals educated enough to provide medical services in the field of different paramedical sciences as mentioned above. They are specially trained professionals to handle modern upgraded healthcare equipment and act as a man-machine interface, which is very essential to support and stabilize the patient’s condition. Paramedics are the professionals who help doctors to initiate the treatment of patients by producing a proper diagnostic report.

What is nursing science?

Nursing sciences encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families groups, and communities seek or well. Nursing includes the promotion of health, care of ill, and prevention of illness, care of disabled and dying people.

What are the roles of nurses and paramedics in the modern healthcare system?

They are the backbone of modern health care, starting from diagnostics to providing quality patient care. In modern days technology is redefining the health care every day, from modern upgraded instruments like advance imaging machines to high tech treatment delivery system everything needs properly trained manpower to deliver quality care to save lives. Paramedics are professionally skilled in this maneuver and patient handling.

What is the demand for paramedics in modern health care scenario?

It is well proven that paramedic professionals are the backbone of modern super-specialized healthcare sectors. WHO suggested that by 2025 approximately 90 lakh of skilled paramedics are required to serve different healthcare sectors in every step for providing quality healthcare services from diagnostic to proper treatment delivery to the post-recovery period.

From where I can learn paramedical or nursing courses?

In India and abroad many Nursing and Paramedical Colleges offer various diploma and degree courses in nursing and paramedical sciences.

How to choose a good paramedical or nursing college?

A premium paramedical or nursing college should satisfy the following criteria-

  • College should be recognized by UGC recognized University.
  • Nursing colleges should be recognized by the Indian and state nursing council.
  • It should have proper infrastructure such as laboratories for hands-on training.
  • Should have an adequate number of qualified, properly trained, and experienced faculties.
  • It should have an updated modern library facility.
  • It should have to tie up with different recognized super specialty and multispecialty hospitals for adequate practical and clinical exposure of the students.
  • The courses should be recognized by different accrediting bodies of India and abroad.

Why Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS)?

TIPS is a state-of-the-art premium paramedical college in a joint venture with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Tripura, having more than 1lakh square feet of area and affiliated to Tripura Central University and Indian and State nursing council. TIPS had been providing quality education since 2009 and also immensely satisfy all criteria mentioned above.

What is the location of TIPS?

It is situated in Agartala, the capital city of the North-Eastern state of Tripura. It is well connected through Air, Railway and Road with other parts of the country.

What are the different courses offered by TIPS?

TIPS offer eight degrees and one diploma course as mentioned below.

  • Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT)
  • Bachelor in Physiotherapy(BPT)
  • Bachelor in Optometry (BOPTM)
  • Bachelor in Medical Radio-diagnosis and Imaging Technology (BMRIT)
  • Bachelor in Medical Radiotherapy Technology (BMRT)
  • Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (Operation Theater)
  • Sc. Nursing
  • Bachelor in Hospital Management (BHM)
  • Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery(ANM)

What is the eligibility for admission?

  • For BMLT, BPT, BOPTM, BMRIT, BMRT, BMTOT, B.Sc. Nursing- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 35% marks (30% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate from any recognized board.
  • For BHM and ANM- 10+2 and must have obtained a minimum of 35% marks (30% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in any stream from any recognized board. Only female candidates are eligible for the ANM course.

Is there any age limit for admission in paramedical & nursing courses?

Yes. No candidate shall be allowed for admission to paramedical & nursing courses until he/she has completed 17 years of age but has not exceeded 25 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

Is there any reservation for physically challenged candidates?

Yes, 3% disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40%-50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria concerning age and qualification will be the same as prescribed for each paramedical program.

What is the medium of instruction?

English shall be the medium of instruction for all the courses.

Do the candidates pass out from IGNOU are eligible for admission in Paramedical & Nursing courses?

No the candidates pass out from IGNOU are not eligible for admission in Paramedical & Nursing Courses

Do the candidates pass out from The National Institute of Open Schooling are eligible for admission in Paramedical & Nursing courses?

Yes, candidates pass out from The National Institute of Open Schooling are eligible for admission in Paramedical & Nursing Courses.

Is there any provision for lateral entry?

Yes. In the third semester in paramedical degree courses only.

What are the fee structures of the various courses offered?

Does college assist to apply for an educational loan?

Are the courses recognised by all Indian bodies?

Do TIPS have Hospital Tie-ups?

TIPS have tie-up with three Govt. hospitals in Tripura and with more than 150 corporate hospitals pan India.

How to get admission in TIPS?

The candidate can be admitted through the Common Entrance Test (CET) or Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination (TBJEE). For further information please contact with college admission section.

Who will conduct the examination and will provide the course completion certificate?

All Semester exams are conducted by Tripura Central University and Degree course completion certificates are provided by Tripura Central University. For the ANM course, the examination conduction and certificate provision are done by Tripura Nursing Council.

Are the degrees valid in foreign countries? Will I be eligible for further studies in India or abroad after this degree?

Yes the degrees are valid in foreign countries.

Will I be eligible for state and central Govt. Jobs?

Yes

Does the college have separate Boys and Girls Hostel facilities?

Yes the college have separate hostels for boys and girls.
