Eligibility:Bachelor degree Programme or equivalent in Optometry.

Many professional groups have been engaging over the past few years and seeking advice on everyone who would fall under the category of “allied and healthcare professionals.” Optometry refers to a self‐ governing field of medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating eye disorders as well as checking for refractive errors and flaws in the eye. It also involves prescribing corrective lenses, eye exercises, and/or visual rehabilitation therapy for people who are blind. Uncorrected refractive error is the main factor of visual impairment worldwide. The major public health responsibility for eradicating these uncorrected refractive defects falls to the profession of optometry. Optometry may and should take the lead in providing eye care at the primary level, and can help where it is possible at the intermediate and tertiary levels. Together with ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals, they should strive toward the common objective of preventing blindness. A well‐structured postgraduate education programme must be supported in order to improve the nation’s research capability and broaden the field of clinical practise for the profession given the changing disease dynamics and multiplicative rise in the number of cases requiring eye care treatment. In terms of research and education, postgraduate students can make a substantial contribution. And for academic objectives, several institutions need well‐qualified postgraduate candidates.
