In today’s modern world of technology, the diagnosis, treatment & prognosis of various diseases depends upon the results of investigations carried out in a clinical laboratory. Medical Laboratory Professionals are playing a key role in the field of health care and also has played a significant role in the advancement in the field of Medicine in past few decades. As modern treatment procedures are becoming more of a team effort, the Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technologists are
playing an integral part of the Medical team. They work in all areas of clinical laboratories including blood banking, clinical bio-chemistry, haematology, immunology, histopathology and medical microbiology. They monitor, screen, and troubleshoot analyzers
featuring the latest technology. They also perform equipment validations, calibrations, quality controls,run-by-run assessment, statistical control of observed data, and recording of normal operations. Nowadays, change in disease dynamics and increase in cases needing medical laboratory science for the purpose of proper diagnosis. It is very important that a well-structured programme of postgraduate education is also encouraged so as to enhance research capacity within the country to widen the scope of clinical practice for the profession and to produce well trained teaching faculty from within the profession.
