Radiographers are technicians who operate machines that use giant magnets and radio waves rather than radiation to create an image, are called MR! (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) technologists. Radiographers play a vital role in the treatment of cancer as they are the only healthcare professionals qualified to plan and deliver radiotherapy. Radiation therapy technologists or radiation therapists prepare cancer patients for treatment and administer prescribed doses of ionizing radiation to specific body parts. Radiotherapy is used either on its own or in combination with surgery and chemotherapy.
Radiation therapists work in hospitals or in cancer treatment centers. Growth is likely to be rapid across all practicing fields, including hospitals, physicians' offices and outpatient centers. Since Cancer has sprawled its deadly wings, the number of Cancer patients are increasing day by day. As a result the demand of radiotherapist is also increasing.
